I graduated from the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Dijon in 1974, and have devoted myself to figurative painting since then.

As Georges Rouault said, “A subject is never out of style, it all depends on who depicts it. An artist is not modern because he paints current subjects, or traditional because he portrays heroic subjects.”

Centuries after artists like Vélasquez, Titian, Courbet and Soutine, I agree with him: depth is always new and requires that an artist seek it not just once, but throughout his entire lifetime.
